Coach's Wife

We are over half-way through the regular football season and if you know us, you know that football takes up a lot of our time! Whether I am watching practice, attending games, travelling to games, listening as John Mark makes recruiting phone calls, or just visiting the field house, I feel connected to the players, the coaches, and the whole team!

Up until now, I have always been on the sideline cheering or coaching, so it is very different watching the games from the stands this year, but I have enjoyed every moment spent with family and friends cheering on the mountaineers! Here are some of our faithful fans:

The Sopers
The Hamiltons
Elizabeth and Leah
Adam
The Greenwood Tailgaters
The Lovely Ladies
The Lancaster's and Becky Fain

As a coach's wife, every game won is more than just a W. Each game represents opportunity. Opportunities for: players to step and apply what they've learned, coaches to develop new strategies and impact the lives of their players, fans to encourage or tear down the team, a successful season, job security, and so much more. It is easy to let your worries about a simple win, lead you to worrying about your future as a coach's wife.

This year I have had to remind myself to cast all my cares and worries upon the Lord. One of my favorite passages is:

Matthew 6:33-34
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will added unto you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

God has promised to work all things for good and to His glory. It has been such a blessing to serve as a coach's wife thus far! I am proud to call myself Coach Hamilton's wife, as he is a prime example of a Godly husband and coach. His display of character and committment is a good reminder for all of us to "Do everything as unto the Lord."

This year, I have challenged myself to pray for the team, coaching staff and players, as well as encourage my husband throughout the season and off-season. I may not be the best at it, but I am a "work in progress" and I am striving to be the coahc's wife that God has called me to be. I am reminded of what our Pastor said at church on Sunday, "Just keep digging!" Do not quit at what God has told you to do! I have learned that when God tells you something: 1. Write it down, 2. Attach your faith to it, 3. Believe it, 4. Run after it, and 5. Do not back down!

I hope you are encouraged in whatever it is you are working at or running after.

Amanda
